The Sagem Defense electro-optical multifunction system (EOMS) should see steady production over the next several years for multiple naval applications. The system provides panoramic or sector surveillance and automatic target detection and tracking, as well as fire control.
In February 2014, the French defense procurement agency Direction Generale de L’Armement (DGA) announced its choice of Sagem to modernize the optronic systems on four Horizon and Cassard class air defense frigates in the French Navy. These ships will be equipped with the latest version, EOMS-NG.
Sagem has taken a strong lead in providing surveillance technology to naval operators, particularly those in the dangerous waters of Southeast Asia. EOMS is also known to be a key part of one Middle Eastern warship program and should continue to draw new customers into the next decade.
Support for the EOMS units in service with the United Arab Emirates Navy is expected to remain steady over the next several years. The country’s six Baynunah class corvettes are each equipped with two EOMS units.
