Embraer plans to conduct a flight display of three new aircraft at this year’s Paris Air Show. The Brazilian aerospace company will display its commercial E195-E2 airliner, Legacy 450 business jet, and KC-390 military multirole transport.

The E195-E2 is the second Embraer commercial airline jet to make its debut at an international air show in two years. Embraer introduced its E190-E2 at Farnborough last year. Embraer rolled out the E195-E2 on March 7. The largest model in the company’s second-generation E2 family of jetliners, it is expected to enter service in the first half of 2019.

Embraer Legacy 450

The Legacy 450 first flew in December 2013. It has received certification from Brazil as well as the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). Embraer recently made a modification to the Legacy 450’s wings and added fuel capacity to extend its range. The upgrades were approved in July 2016.

The KC-390 is a multirole aircraft that will provide transport as well as aerial refueling capabilities. The KC-390 program continues to meet milestones. The two prototype KC-390s currently flying have together accumulated more than 850 flight hours. Performance has met projected parameters, and both aircraft have had high availability rates. They have also conducted in-flight refueling tests and paratrooper testing.

The Brazilian Instituto de Fomento e Coordenação Industrial (IFI) awarded a provisional type certificate to Embraer for the KC-390 in November 2016, indicating that in its basic configuration, it complies with certification standards. A certification campaign for the Pratt & Whitney V2500-E5 engine is ongoing.

Brazil plans to begin taking delivery of its new KC-390 transport aircraft in 2018. The first two will be delivered to the Air Force in Brasilia. Portugal is also actively negotiating with Brazil and Embraer to purchase the aircraft. Currently, two KC-390 prototypes are in flight testing, and production has begun at Embraer’s plant in Gavião Peixoto.
