Sukhoi, MiG to Merge

On June 20, 2017, United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) CEO Yuri Slyusar announced that two major aircraft corporations in Russia will be merged into a single combat aviation complex.

Responding to a question about the two companies, Slyusar said, “For us, the year 2019 is the year when we switch to the format of a single company, a single corporate contour while the division will be in the format of a unit of the UAC single company.”

Slyusar added, “We are working on this and we are implementing a roadmap, which was approved by decision of the board of directors back at the end of 2016.”

The two firms will likely retain their brands despite the merger. Industry and Trade Minister Denis Manturov previously noted that the brands would remain even if a merger occurred.
