Uzbek Order for Mi-35s Confirmed

A Russian official has confirmed an Uzbek order for Mi-35s.

Speaking to reporters at the ArmHiTec exhibition, the deputy head of Russia’s Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation, Vladimir Drozhzhov, stated, “We’ve got a delivery contract for Mi-35 helicopters signed in accordance with the agreements. The work is successful, and military-technical cooperation with Uzbekistan is actively developing.”

Questioned over the size of the order, he added that it was “more than 10” helicopters.

In November 2017, TASS reported, citing a diplomatic source, that a contract had been inked between the two countries for 12 Mi-35 attack helicopters.

Deliveries under the contract are expected to begin later this year.

Uzbekistan is also interested in other Russian systems, such as the Su-30SM, which neighbor Kazakhstan has procured. Additionally, Uzbekistan is likely to contract with Russia for the overhaul of some of the hardware currently in service with its Air Force, such as its MiG-29s and Su-25s.
