Forecast International estimates that the U.S. Air Force will spend approximately $2.64 million on its Cyber Defense Analysis project over the next decade. The CDA project is a research and development endeavor that assesses non-secure telecommunications to determine the type and amount of sensitive and/or classified information that may have been disclosed to U.S. adversaries.
The project encompasses the following mission subsets: telephony communications, radio-frequency communications, e-mail communications, Internet-based capabilities, Web-risk assessment, and cyber operations risk assessment. CDA is the cyber “weapon system” that is used to conduct assessments during peacetime and contingency operations. According to the Air Force, CDA shows its true capability in the force protection realm and helps ensure U.S. adversaries are not provided early warning of U.S. plans, capabilities, and/or limitations.
Forecast International’s projected funding stream is being fueled by the U.S. Air Force’s need for cybersecurity for non-secure telecommunications. Given the importance the Department of Defense places on cybersecurity, Forecast International expects funding for the Cyber Defense Analysis project to increase in future budget requests.
