BAE Systems Rolls Out Typhoon and Hawk for Oman

BAE Systems formally unveiled the first Eurofighter Typhoon fighter jet and Hawk jet trainer for Oman.

On May 15, 2017, BAE Systems showed off the first Typhoon and the first Hawk aircraft for Oman.

BAE Systems said in a statement, “The first Eurofighter Typhoon and Hawk advanced jet trainer aircraft for the Royal Air Force of Oman (RAFO) have been formally presented to the customer in a ceremony held at BAE Systems’ Military Air & Information business in the UK.”

The statement added,

“An invited audience of more than 100 delegates witnessed the event at BAE Systems’ site in Warton, Lancashire, including His Excellency Sayyid Badr bin Saud al Busaidi, the Sultanate of Oman’s Minister Responsible For Defence Affairs (MRDA) and the Commander of the Royal Air Force of Oman, Air Vice-Marshal Mattar bin Ali bin Mattar Al Obaidani. The event was followed by a fly-past of a Royal Air Force of Oman Eurofighter Typhoon aircraft.”

Oman ordered 12 Eurofighter Typhoons and eight Hawk trainer aircraft back in December 2012. Deliveries of both are due to begin later in the year.
