Nammo Begins Construction of New Ammunition Plant in Norway

Nammo has begun construction on a new munition production facility in Raufoss. This expansion will increase the company’s production capacity for artillery ammunition and rocket engines.

The project is part of a larger government initiative to strengthen domestic defense production capabilities. The Ministry of Defense has signed a 15-year agreement with Nammo worth NOK1.083 billion (approximately $98 million) to support increased production readiness.

To further bolster the defense industry, the Norwegian government has taken several significant steps. These include co-financing the EU’s ASAP program, allocating approximately NOK 3 billion ($271 million) to increase production capacity. Additionally, the government has earmarked NOK 967 million ($87 million) to strengthen Norwegian defense industries specifically.

To ensure a stable supply of critical defense equipment, long-term contracts have also been signed with key industry players, such as Kongsberg Defence and Aerospace and Nammo AS.

Additionally, Norway has committed to supporting Ukraine’s defense industry with a NOK500 million ($45 million) investment.
