Kyrgyzstan will receive two An-26 military transport aircraft from Russia.
According to a spokesperson for the General Staff, “The ceremony for the handing over of An-26 aircraft and opening of the air technical-operational unit’s building, where the repairs of the Kyrgyz aircraft at the Russian airfield in the city of Kant, will take place on August 9.”
Russia’s delegation to the ceremony will be headed by Russian Deputy Defense Minister Lt. Gen. Alexander Fomin.
On July 24, 2017, Kyrgyz President Almazbek Atambayev revealed that the Kyrgyz Air Force would soon receive two new aircraft, though he declined to offer any other details.
President Atambayev said, “We must strengthen our armed forces with the help of Russia. It always helped us. Soon we will receive 2 aircrafts from the Russian Federation.”
