Pakistan’s AH-1Z Delivery On Track

The first images of Pakistan’s AH-1Z Viper attack helicopters have surfaced, indicating that a delivery will occur soon.

On August 16, 2017, images of Pakistan’s new AH-1Zs emerged on social media. Pakistan is due to receive three before the end of the year, and the new images suggest that it is likely this schedule will be met on time.

It is not known when the photographs were taken, though as of several months ago the helicopters were said to be in final assembly.

Pakistan has on order 12 AH-1Zs. The remaining nine are slated for delivery in 2018. Once in service, the helicopters will join the Pakistani Army’s Aviation Corps.

The new helicopters will help Pakistan replace its aging AH-1 Cobras.

Pakistan’s AH-1s have seen extensive use in counterinsurgency operations against militant groups, particularly in northwestern Pakistan.
