Azerbaijan Reveals Barak-8ER

Azerbaijan has acquired the extended-range version of the Barak-8.

At its annual parade in Baku on June 26, Azerbaijan revealed the acquisition of the Barak-8ER, which carries an extended range from the base model.

Azerbaijan’s purchase of the Barak-8 itself had been known previously. The country reportedly ordered 12 launchers, which were seen conducting test-firing in Azerbaijan in late 2016.

However, it was not previously known that Azerbaijan had purchased the Barak-8ER. While the Barak-8 carries a range of between 70-90 kilometers, the upgraded Barak-8ER version has a range of up to 150 kilometers, providing better airspace defense.
