Ukrainian troops have tested the latest batch of BTR-3DA armored personnel carriers (APCs) delivered from the defense industry.
In a statement, Ukrainian defense conglomerate Ukroboronprom announced that the Ukrainian armed forces’ 95th Air Assault Brigade was carrying out testing of the vehicles. The statement said, “The 95th Air Assault Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces has used BTR-3DAs from the state-owned enterprise Kyiv Armored Plant, part of the Ukroboronprom State Concern, during tactical exercises.”
UkrInform reported that the vehicles were approved after the testing was completed.
To date, Ukraine’s security services have received hundreds of the armored vehicles from Kyiv Armored Plant. The statement said, “BTR-3DAs are mass-produced at Kyiv Armored Plant and are supplied to the Ukrainian army on a regular basis. Several hundred BTR-3s were supplied to the Ukrainian Armed Forces, the National Guard, and other security agencies of Ukraine, and they received approval from fighters at the front line.”
BTR-3DAs, based on an 8×8 chassis, utilize the Shturm-M combat turret, which has a 30mm cannon capable of firing 330 rounds per minute. It also uses a 7.62mm machine gun and an automatic grenade launcher. The APC can also fire Baryer anti-tank missiles out to 5 kilometers.
