SINGCARS Radio in Demand for the Tactical Vehicles of Military Services Worldwide

The Single Channel Ground and Airborne Radio System  (SINCGARS) is a key component of numerous U.S.-sanctioned Foreign Military Sales (FMS) orders.  If recent multination defense procurement deals are any indication, production of the radio in that capacity should remain steady over the next several years.

In June 2017, the U.S. State Department approved an FMS order from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for TPQ-53 radar systems and related support.  The $622 million deal included the purchase of an undisclosed number of SINCGARS radios.

In October 2019, the State Department approved an FMS order from Kuwait for 19 M88A2 Hercules recovery vehicles and related equipment, including SINCGARS radios and support, for an estimated cost of $281 million.

Finally, in March 2020, the State Department approved a $239.3 million FMS order from Morocco for 25 M88A2s and related equipment, including 25 SINCGARS radios.

As the systems are still in wide use with the U.S. military, there will also be ongoing support for enhancements and replenishment. In May 2020, prime contractor L3Harris Technologies reported $28 million in contract awards from the U.S. Army for SINCGARS.
