The U.S. Navy formally took delivery of its newest Arleigh Burke class guided missile destroyer, the future USS Paul Ignatius (DDG 117), on February 22.  The ship was built by Huntington Ingalls Industries’ Ingalls Shipbuilding division.  Paul Ignatius is scheduled to sail away from the shipyard in June.

Ingalls currently has four destroyers under construction, including Jack H. Lucas (DDG 125), the first Flight III ship.  The new Flight III configuration adds Raytheon’s SPY-6 Air and Missile Defense Radar.
