Ivory Coast Purchases C-295 Transport

Ivory Coast has placed an order for a C-295 transport aircraft.

On January 21, 2019,  Airbus announced that the Ministry of Defense of Ivory Coast had signed a firm order for the procurement of a single C-295 medium transport aircraft, which will make Ivory Coast the 28th country in the world to operate the aircraft. In a statement, Airbus said, “The aircraft, in transport configuration, will enhance the capabilities of the Ivory Coast Air Force with its proven record of excellent performance in hot and harsh conditions, and affordable maintenance and operational costs.”

The head of Airbus Defence and Space Marketing & Sales, Bernhard Brenner, stated, “The aircraft will be a game changer for Ivory Coast and we feel very proud to welcome a new operator into our C-295 family.”

It is not clear what the delivery schedule is under the contract.

Airbus and the government of Ivory Coast inked a Memorandum of Understanding in June 2018 geared toward developing the aerospace industry in the country.
