The U.S. Department of Defense awarded a contract on October 4, 2017 for the production of AGM-154 glide bombs for Qatar.
The contract, awarded to Raytheon Missile Systems, is worth $172.9 million and covers the procurement of 200 AGM-154C Block III joint standoff weapons, 212 containers, component parts and support equipment, and engineering and technical support. The contract is for the government of Qatar.
The contract is expected to be completed by June 2020.
Qatar will likely use the AGM-154Cs with its F-15QA fighter jets, once those have been inducted into service. Qatar was approved for 72 F-15QAs in November 2016 and signed a deal for 36 in June 2017, at a cost of $12 billion.
No contract has been issued yet for the F-15QAs, though one is expected soon.
