Kyrgyz Air Force Receives Two Russian An-26s

Kyrgyzstan took delivery of two An-26 transport aircraft.

At a ceremony at Kant airbase on August 10, 2017, Kyrgyzstan took delivery of two An-26s from Russia. In addition to the transport aircraft, Kyrgyzstan received support equipment.

Further details on the transfer were not provided. The aircraft were seen in a video released from the ceremony.

Last month, Kyrgyz President Almazbek Atambayev stated, “We must strengthen our armed forces with the help of Russia. It always helped us. Soon we will receive 2 aircrafts from the Russian Federation.”

The Kyrgyz military further revealed that it would be receiving two An-26s from Russia, which was confirmed by the Russian Ministry of Defense earlier this week.
