Sales of SELEX Elsag’s PRC-343 Personal Role Radio will spike later in the decade to meet the short-range communications needs of defense departments worldwide. The PRC-343 provides short-range communications for frontline foot soldiers. It replaces traditional, “non-radio” means of frontline communications such as the use of hand signals – or simply shouting.
Back in April 2013, SELEX Elsag exhibited the enhanced version of the PRC-343 (also known as the EZPRR) at the Adriatic Sea Defense & Aerospace exhibition in Split, Croatia. Later, In September 2013, SELEX Elsag announced that it had been selected by Celab Communications AB (which was contracted by Sweden’s FMV) to supply 4,425 man-worn EZPRR systems for the Swedish Home Guard.
The spike late in the decade notwithstanding, overall sales are slowing in response to tightening defense budgets. Still, PRC-343 procurements will increase quickly should a new major war break out. What’s more, the competitive price of the radio makes it an appealing choice.
