The United States has donated a secondhand C-130H Hercules to the Colombian Air Force. The announcement of the donation was made during a visit by U.S. Air Force Chief of Staff General David L. Goldfein to Colombia.
Gen. Goldfein concluded a two-day visit to Colombia on November 15 to reinforce bonds between the two allied nations. Colombia and the U.S. work together on an assortment of regional and security concerns. In addition to the donation, the U.S. has pledged to accelerate joint training activities between the U.S. Air Force and Colombian Air Force.
The Hercules aircraft donated by the U.S. is expected to arrive in 2019. It is one of three that Colombia requested in 2017. Approval of the remaining two aircraft will also occur in 2019. The aircraft are intended to replace Colombia’s aging fleet of C-130Bs.
